I purchased the ComfyBumpy Wooden Stepping Stones for Kids as part of my 18-month-old nephew’s Easter basket. I loved the concept right away. These aren’t just stepping stones—they support color recognition, number familiarity, early math skills, balance, and fine motor development. I can already picture him using them for years, well into elementary school.First off, these are very solid. The set weighs over 10 pounds, which surprised me. The wooden circles are thick, heavy, and feel durable enough to last through years of play. This isn’t a flimsy toy set—it’s sturdy and substantial. It also comes with a canvas carrying bag, which is a nice touch for storage.I especially like that the pieces are double-sided with colors, engraved numbers, shapes, and patterns. It even includes a wooden “pencil” for tracing the numbers and designs, which adds another layer of interactive play. I can already imagine games like “the floor is lava,” hopping from circle to circle, or using them for sorting and counting games. That said, I do have mixed feelings because of some quality control issues—especially at this price point. Two of the pieces had paint defects. On the number four, there were noticeable splinters and sharp edges around the points that may need sanding down before giving to a toddler. Some of the routed grooves in the wood also weren’t as clean as I would have liked, with small splintering in certain areas. The wood itself feels solid and high quality, but the finishing could be better.Another thing to note: the number six and number nine use the same template, so they’re interchangeable depending on how you flip them. At first, I thought we had received two sixes and were missing the nine. It makes sense once you realize it, but it could definitely be confusing for little ones just learning their numbers. One concern I have (and I haven’t tested this yet) is potential slipping. Since these are solid wood, if they’re placed on hard floors and a child is jumping from.
